Iron Horse Bluegrass

We had a great weekend at the Athens Fiddler’s Convention. We were honored to have the opportunity of performing with the great fiddle player Jim Buchanan. We would like to thank Jim Hays for his efforts to make this possible and his hospitality for us during the day.

We just got home from our trip to Nelson, British Columbia where we played a wedding reception for the newlyweds Derek and Brenna Parker. This was our first trip up into Canada and man the country up there in northwest is beautiful. We flew into Spokane and then drove across the border into Canada which has given us some new stories to tell. The folks at the wedding reception were great. Thanks for the hospitality and new friendships!!! Also, Congratulations and best wishes to Derek and Brenna.

Also, Iron Horse would like to express our sincere apologies to our fans that came to hear us at “The Royal” in Nelson, British Columbia. Unfortunately, we had to cancel due to insufficient filed papers allowing us to work inside Canada (paper work filed by both the artist and the establishment). We were told by the immigration at the border in Nelway that if we were allowed to go into Canada and play at the Royal that we would be taking jobs away from Canadians. We were allowed to enter the country (for twenty four hours) only because someone in the wedding party contacted the border. They allowed us entry to play only the wedding reception on Saturday and told us that we would be arrested if we did not leave the country by Sunday.

Hello Folks…hope all is well. Iron Horse just got in from a mini tour. We played the Steakfest in Deming New Mexico, Appalachian Uprising in Scottown Ohio, The Cherokee Music Art venue in St. Louis Missouri and The Tribez Vibez Festival in College Corner Ohio. It was an opportunity to see new places, meet new people and play venues for the first time. Thanks to everyone that came out to see us live at these festivals, the hospitality was great and we hope to play each of these again.  On July 21st we will be leaving for Nelson British Columbia Canada to play a wedding reception and “The Royal”. On July 26th we will play the Handy Festival in Florence Alabama with the Pinehill Haints at The Shoals Theatre.  We hope to see some of you there!

We will be releasing our second all original project this Saturday 2-19-2011. It is composed of ten songs that fit well in the Bluegrass, Country and Americana genre. The songs were written over a five year period and even though it seemed at times that we would never be able to complete the project, the Horse just kept pulling. All the tracks were recorded at 101 Cross Roads Sound Studio in Rogersville Alabama in 2010. Please stop by our Music Store on Saturday and purchase “Horse and Pen”.  Music for everyone!!!
